When Tomy and I first started this journey together, we wanted a name that truly captured the heart of what we stand for and the impact we aim to create. The name had to be more than just a label—it needed to tell a story, reflect our purpose, and inspire others to join us in our mission.
One day, while driving back to Montana from an event, the question came up: "What does freedom mean to us?" It wasn’t an easy question to answer, but it sparked a conversation that brought us to the core of why we do what we do.
Freedom, we realized, isn’t just about independence. It’s about opportunity, dignity, and the ability to live life fully. For Tomy, freedom has been a deeply personal journey—from recovering from life-altering injuries in service to rediscovering his purpose as a husband, an athlete, and a leader. For me, it’s been about helping people and organizations break through barriers, whether through a well-executed fundraising campaign, a nonprofit’s life-changing work, or simply through faith and love.
As we talked, it became clear that the organizations we work with are all about bringing freedom to people in their own ways. Here are some of the nonprofits we have the honor of partnering with and the incredible ways they foster freedom:
Warrior Rising creates opportunities and growth for veteran entrepreneurs and their families, giving them access to the network, resources, and mentorship they need to succeed in business. By supporting these “vetrepreneurs,” Warrior Rising empowers them to achieve financial freedom, decision freedom, and time freedom—critical components of a fulfilling post-service life. Their work ensures veterans can build something meaningful, take control of their futures, and provide for their families. Our company is a testament to the impact Warrior Rising has had on our lives, connecting us with an incredible community and life-changing opportunities.
Dream Adaptive enhances the quality of life for individuals with disabilities by providing year-round outdoor adaptive recreational opportunities. As both recipients and fundraisers for this program, we have seen firsthand how Dream Adaptive transforms lives. When someone with a disability gets to try something new—like skiing down a mountain in a monoski—it’s not just about the activity. It’s about breaking free from the limitations that might have once confined them and experiencing the thrill of physical freedom. Some of our most cherished memories include skiing as a family with Dream Adaptive, watching Tomy conquer the slopes. It’s a powerful reminder of what’s possible when people are given the tools to explore their potential.
The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation is committed to conserving wildlife, preserving habitats, and safeguarding America’s hunting heritage. Founded by hunters in Montana, their mission ensures future generations will have the freedom to enjoy these traditions, connect with the outdoors, and engage in conservation efforts. Their work not only protects the land and wildlife but also upholds a heritage that ties us to the freedom of the wilderness and sustainable stewardship. Tomy and I both grew up hunting in Montana to help provide for our families, and this mission is deeply personal to us.
The Other Side Academy is a transformative training school for individuals seeking a fresh start. Many of their students have faced long-term incarceration, struggled with addiction, or experienced homelessness. Through pro-social, vocational, and life skills training, students emerge with the tools to build independent and healthy lives on “the other side.” This program offers a pathway to freedom from addiction, freedom from crime, and the ability to live life with dignity and purpose. It’s a profound example of what’s possible when people are given the resources and mentorship to rewrite their stories.
These organizations embody what freedom means: the ability to make choices, embrace opportunities, and live a life of meaning. They give people the chance to experience freedom in its many forms—financial, physical, emotional, and spiritual.
That’s how "For Freedom Fundraising" was born. It’s more than just a name. It’s a commitment to empower nonprofits to carry out their missions and amplify their impact. Every dollar raised is a step toward a world where freedom is within reach for more people, in more ways. And that’s what drives us every day—to help nonprofits do more of what they do best, with the resources, support, and inspiration to make a difference.
