Our Story

For Freedom Fundraising is a story of transformation, resilience, and purpose. Founded in 2021 by Tomy and Dara Parker, our mission is to empower nonprofits to create lasting impacts in their communities, from veteran support and conservation to disability services and addiction recovery.

Tomy, a Marine Corps veteran, grew up in Ronan, Montana, and served with the 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment. His life changed dramatically in December 2010 when he stepped on an IED during his deployment to Afghanistan, resulting in the loss of both legs and most of the fingers on his left hand. After 18 months of rehabilitation and a medical retirement, Tomy returned to Montana, where he found himself on a difficult path of addiction and incarceration.

It wasn’t until reconnecting with Dara that Tomy found the support and purpose he needed to rebuild his life. Warrior Rising played a pivotal role in this journey, helping Tomy and Dara transform their personal struggles into a mission-driven venture. Inspired by the organization’s dedication to empowering veterans, they turned their combined skills into a force for good.

Dara’s extensive background in nonprofit leadership and small business development became the cornerstone of their work. From revitalizing nonprofits, to strategizing with start ups, she has consistently demonstrated her ability to create lasting change. Her entrepreneurial mindset, coupled with Tomy’s charisma and talent for inspiring others, made them a formidable team.

Since launching For Freedom Fundraising, the Parkers have raised over $5 million for nonprofits nationwide. They credit Warrior Rising’s influence for helping them hone their vision and remain passionate about serving those who serve others. Whether attending Warrior Rising events or partnering to support veteran-led initiatives, the values instilled by the organization continue to guide their mission.

In 2024, they’re taking their commitment to the next level by establishing a headquarters in Ronan, Montana. This space will include a podcast studio dedicated to educating and empowering nonprofits, amplifying their stories, and sharing the tools for success.

For Freedom Fundraising is a testament to the power of community, resilience, and the belief that challenges can be transformed into opportunities. Inspired by the support of Warrior Rising and fueled by their passion for service, Tomy and Dara continue to help nonprofits thrive and make life better for communities across the nation.
